HW: Enjoy your weekend!

Today we started off the day eating donuts because we one the class points thing for doing our homework and having perfect attendance. They were really good, but I only had half though and gave the other half to Quinn (fat kid). While eating though we all wrote down our agendas and homework which I thought was too hard (it was to enjoy our weekend). We then started reading the book and we all took notes on The Outsiders. After a while we got of track when Ms. Nakada started talking about how in The Outsiders movie Soda has no shirt on it's always a big moment in the movie. From there it just kept going on, and on, and on, and on. About the actors in the movie and about how they are all famous like The Karate Kid and people too old for us to know about. We then got back on to our train of thought and went on with our notes. After our notes we talked about how the sub was kind of dumb and told us to copy the whole cycle thing about the personal writing process insted of just writing down the steps. When we were done with talking about him we talked about how we always publish and revise our work in our lives in and outside of the school. For example we publish and revise when we turn in work, text, or when we use social media. To end the day Ms. Nakada checked all of our reading journals. Well now the bell is ringing and I have to go, so bye.

The Writing Process
HW: RJ 3.2 The Outsiders p. 100-118

Well, Omune forgot to select a blogger so here I am. We went over our English scores and how to find our grades and then we read Chapter 6 of The Outsiders. This is the part where Johnny decides to turn himself in and the church catches on fire. Finally, we have some resolution with Darry and Ponyboy reuniting.

After taking notes on the chapter I talked with the class about the sub tomorrow (Mr. Jones) and how I would be checking reading journals and personal writing process assignments on Friday.

The bell rang because it was a short day and that was it!

Omunes's First Blog

Agenda/Blog
"Nothing Gold Can Stay"
revision marks
personal spelling list
English scores

So, hi everyone. It's my first blog and I really hate to type. I might spell some words wrong, but
Saad picked me so here I go. Ms. Nakada has passed out a poem from Langston Hughes
"Nothing Gold Can Stay." Now she has read the poem and asked the class why are
unfamiliar about. Now the class is talking the words. The word Eden comes up as
the garden in the bible. Now Quinn has started to read. I read this poem at my old school.
The class is talking about how Eden fell like a leaf falls off a tree once it dies. Ms. Nakada is now talking to us about extended metaphors so in this poem Huges is comparing nature to life. Jesi thinks the poem is talking about outer beauty. Now the class is turning to their table of contents. The title is Revison marks.  Ms.Nakada drew a weird looking thing which means delete. I see a picture of Mr. Gantt sorry if I spelled it wrong. He was my science teacher at Brentwood Magnet Elementary School. Again another weird line I have not seen before. Back to the table of contents now we are going to make our own spelling list.

I like Ms. Nakadas out fit. That braclet is so pretty. Back to the topic ok. There are so many theres.
I see a picture of Kenedee. I miss hear a lot, but I might go to Palisades next year so I just might see her there. Back to the table of contents. Now we are on an English score sheet. I am her favorite so I am not worried. I should be taking notes, but I will copy from a friend. I made a lot of mistakes when I mean a lot I mean a lot.

The Outsiders notes
 Reading Journal-collect "who are you."

'll tell you in advance I am not a good speller so sorry if I make mistakes. Right now we are doing The Outsiders notes, we're doing them about chapter 5. We are also talking about the Dodger game which is off topic lol. After that we talk about The Outsiders, some more. Ponyboy wakes up and doesn't see Johnny anywhere and then he sees a note from Johnny that said, "Went to get supplies." If i was Pony I would also be worried. Later they had to cut their hair so that the police won't recongnize them. Pony had to bleach his. Pony and Johnny are still worried about the murder that Johnny committed. The class starts reading The Outsiders, and I'm just sitting here and writing this blog.  Selfie with Isai.
gracie, emma, maryam and sabrina are in the background.

Takin selfies with my friends, sorry Ms. Nakada! Now we are doing the "who are you" poems. I look funny looking in the second one lol. Well, I think this is the end of my blog because we only have 5 minutes left of class, bye.

Who are you?
HW Who are you
due @ the end of class tomorrow!

Well I was chosen to write the blog today whooo! Actually more like noooo.. what im I going  to say. I brought this upon myself though helping Sebastion cheer on for his bestie.Oh by the  way  im sorry if theres any typo's Ms.  Nakada. Right now the class is writting  cornell notes on the outsiders. Its the thinking questions that really start making me feel even worse for johnny. Since he gets beat  almost every day by his parents. Summerizing   the first four chapters ,who wouldnt be able to  do that! since the first four chapters are easy and interesting. cx Now to  take a look at the book.

By the way the person with the gray sweater is the one who chose me. Hehehehe Isai. Some of the class is writing who they are the other part of the class are writing what the love. Like gray sweater said in the last blog this does sort of feel like the first short essay.  I know what I love: Teen Wolf, Ryan Gosling, and books. That's just 3 out like 100 though. I feel like I'm running out of things to say so farewell  The Blog '14 and happy Friday. Now I will have fun taking selfies with Gracie and Grey sweater (aka Isai)
Wow he is baaad not working. Caught on camera too.
Oh and the boy with the head turned next to Sparky's books: he's next. Have fun Saad! cx

T.O. Notes
Who Are You?
HW: RJ 2.3 T.O. p. 68-85

Well, here I am doing the blog, which I didn't want to do but Sebastian (My BestFriend) wouldn't keep his mouth closed. I hope Saad will be the next boy doing the blog. Well, I'm not really sure what to write about so this blog might be small but I will do my best. Right now we are taking cornell notes while reading chapter 4 of "The Outsiders" which was suprising when the Socs were drowning Ponyboy and Johnny killed one of the socs. I liked the part when Johnny killed the guy. Now we are turning to our Table of Contents and writing "Who Am I." I think this is going to be our first short essay. We are basically just writing a paragraph explaing who we are and things like I am, I want, I hope, and I dream. Now I don't know what to do so I'll take a picture of me even though I really hate when people take pictures of me.
Well i didnt really want to take a picture of me since I hate them, so I decided to repost the picture that
My Bestfriend took of us both together. So my time is up so I guess this is a Goodbye :)

Alright I honestly have no idea what I'm doing so here it goes first I must appoligize in advace for any miss spelling. Sorry, Ms. Nakada. So the class is now reading Chapter 3 of The Outsiders. Ok, nothing else right now. Ms. Nakada asked what aloof means and apperantly it means to hide who you really are and stuck up. British people are known as aloof, not hating on them, but like royals. Now Brisa's reading (she's the one who got me up here doing the blog so everbody she's the next girl to write the blog). Now, after a bunch of people read they are taking notes and discussing speaking of notes. I'm going to need them. I need help puting the picture in!!!!!!

Well, there, I put one in maybe I'll put another one later. Now they're reading chapter 4.
Ha, I found a picture of my sister on the picture board. I can't put anything else because the class is ending. I don't know the time but people are packing up, so bye bye.

HW: RJ 2.1 T.O. p. 37-52

So, here I am. Quinn, are you happy!? *madface* So. anyway let's get into the class, shall we. First, Ms. Nakada shows the class how to take Cornell Notes. I mean c'mon no one understands what kind of notes the are taking. Especially me! So, we are learning how to take good notes, no one takes perfect notes, so we are just going to learn how to take good notes. Cornell Notes are way easier then regular notes. They are more organized. I am not organized at all, but one person I know that is less organized then me, is my bestfriend Isai! Isai and I have been disorganized since sixth grade. So other than that Ms. Nakada is now helping us make Cornell Notes about The Outsiders.
A selfie of my bestfriend Isai and I! We are so Funny! :) By the way I am not a girl! I just have long hair!

Alright back to work. We are still taking notes on The Outsiders. Now Ms. Nakada is making us read the next page. It was dead silence up until Jennifer started reading. So, that's all for the day. Thank you, and goodbye!

Quinn's First Blog

Agenda
Blog
Reading Journal Ceck 1.1
What do good readers do?
T.O. Notes
HW:RJ 1.2 T.O. p. 19-36

Today  I feel like Moses the beginner, the first one across the sea, the first one to jump off the cliff. The first eighth grade student to write a blog all year. I am starting a trend of writing that blog, I am actually not. I just want to feel special. The agenda for today is to go over Ms. Nakada's first blog yesterday. Now Ms. Nakada is meticulously creeping around the room to check each single person's reading journals. Everyone except one person did the reading  journals so no point for today... Now Ms. Nakada is evilly glancing across the room waiting for one brave student to read their own reading journal. I raised my hand but she did not want to listen to my immaculate pronunciation of the most amazing reading journal. Now many people raise their hands to share their summaries. On pages 1-18 we find out that the narrator Ponyboy Curtis is a Greaser who does not use his head.  He almost gets jumped before Darry and the rest of the gang come to Pony's rescue. Pony lives with brothers Soda aka Prince Charming and Darry acts as a father figure to both brothers. Ponyboy lives in a good cop-bad cop situation with Darry as the "bad cop" and Soda as the "good cop." During the chapter we meet the other members of the gang including Two-Bit, Dally, and Johnny. They all have different personalities and together are the Greasers. At the end of the chapter, as Orson beautifully put, Soda revealed to Pony that after Pony got out of school Soda was going to marry Sandy. Awwwww they are in loveeeeeee. (No Ms. Nakada that is not a typo but, this mayb;).)

Ms. Nakada now wants us to take notes on what good readers do. Do I really have to do notes Ms. Nakada? I can just get them from someone else, ok I might do them. No, I haven't seen the outsiders movie. I'm bored I'm gonna take a selfie.

Wow, I look creepy. Maybe if our class gets 10 points Ms. Nakada can get me a stylist. Just kidding.  As Bruno Mars says, "you're amazing just the way you are." Thank you, Bruno. I am amazing just the way I am. Now, Ms. Nakada thinks I am taking notes but my composition is as empty as Las Vegas when the casinos close or as empty as Nebraska and if you were wondering I don't like Nebraska but they have really good corn. Well, Ms. Nakada said good readers need to find interesting and good books for them. Good readers also predict what will happen. Now, according to every English TEACHER ever "Don't judge a book by it's cover." Gracie Globerman decided to be a rebel and pronounced, "I judge books by their cover (chuckle, chuckle)." She must have eaten too much Sass-a-Frass this morning or she just has had many dreams where famous rebels like some famous people that I'm supposed to know told her to be rebellious. Hey, I'm a rebel too. I just did something for the first time I should get a medal :)!!!

I took a selfie with a 6th grader in another room. That's a first! The bell finally rang, now a summary of  my notes for the day
Don't worry, Ms. Nakada. I will eventually have my notes done just not now
One lest Selfie for the best blog ever and yes, Ms. Nakada, my immaculate performance in which my mind and my fingers worked together to create this will help me get a 4.0.

Ms. Nakada's First Blog

Agenda
Blog
Course Outlines
The Outsiders
Reading Journal

HW: RJ 1.1 T.O. p. 1-18

It's the second day of school and my second period class came in and found their assigned seats. We named our class blog (isn't it the most exciting blog name?) and then I took attendance. Students wrote down the agenda and turned in their course outlines. ALMOST everyone turned theirs in, but one was missing so the class didn't earn a point, but I explained how if the class earns 10 points for perfection we get a reward like doughnuts or pizza.

A couple of students passed out The Outsiders books and then we set up our reading journals like this:

Student Name's Reading Journal

Reading Log

Title              Author        Date Started        A /  C
1. The Outsiders SE Hinton

The A/C stands for abandoned or completed. Then we started reading The Outsiders as a class and set up the actual reading journals like this:

1.1     8/14/13        The Outsiders            p. 1-18

We learned the narrator is a greaser and he lives with his two brothers because his parents died. He's walking home from the theatre when a bunch of Socs surround him. We made sure everyone understood the homework for tonight: to write a summary of the rest of the chapter.

That's all for the day!
