The Outsiders
Reading Journal
HW: RJ 1.1 T.O. p. 1-18
It's the second day of school and my second period class came in and found their assigned seats. We named our class blog (isn't it the most exciting blog name?) and then I took attendance. Students wrote down the agenda and turned in their course outlines. ALMOST everyone turned theirs in, but one was missing so the class didn't earn a point, but I explained how if the class earns 10 points for perfection we get a reward like doughnuts or pizza.A couple of students passed out The Outsiders books and then we set up our reading journals like this:
Student Name's Reading Journal
Reading Log
Title Author Date Started A / C
1. The Outsiders SE Hinton
The A/C stands for abandoned or completed. Then we started reading The Outsiders as a class and set up the actual reading journals like this:
1.1 8/14/13 The Outsiders p. 1-18
We learned the narrator is a greaser and he lives with his two brothers because his parents died. He's walking home from the theatre when a bunch of Socs surround him. We made sure everyone understood the homework for tonight: to write a summary of the rest of the chapter.
That's all for the day!
Ooops. I forgot, the narrator's name is Ponyboy.
