I am finally doing my third blog.  But I'm not the last person, so Maryam, you're next. Right now, we are taking out our ICE that we did Friday on Andrew Jackson and making a T chart so we can start our debate. On one side of the chart, we have to do one ICE on why Jackson is a hero and on the other side, we have to do ICE on why he is a villain and this is all based on what other people have to say about him. Right now everyone is turning their desk around to position them for the debate.

Emma has started off our debate stating why she thinks Jackson is a villain and she said that because he pushed the native americans out of their home and Kameron and Sparky are adding to it. Now Gracie is starting off our next topic on why she thinks she is a hero. She is saying that since he led his troop to victory in the Battle of New Orleans, he is a war hero. Sparky's counter argument was that since the Battle was fought after the treaty was signed, it was pointless.

Mostly everyone thinks he's a villain, especially Sparky who has stated many things that would make him a villain. The minute someone makes an argument about how he is a hero, someone can make it go a against him. Daisy had just said that she thought he was a hero because he opened up voting to more people but Ms. Nakada came back and said that it would make him a self-serving hero because he knew he was opening it up to people that he knew would support him.

We are now finished with the debate and completing our T chart. Ms. Nakada is now collecting our Educational Autobiographies.

There is 7 minutes left of class and people are getting their reading journals checked. I guess the question of the day would be "Do you think Andrew Jackson is a hero or a villain?" Everyone is now turning the tables back and putting their ICE in a pile at the isle.

  3  minutes...2 minutes...1 minute...The bell rang!! Bye!

  1. I think that Andrew Jackson is a villain for many reasons. A lot more than why Jackson is a hero.
