HW: Reading Journal 5.4
         T.B.T pg. 256-271

Well here I am again, on this lovely Thursday morning. Thinking about it I will be reading this tomorrow which is Friday, so yay Friday! Valentine's Day! As of now we have already taken our Panorama/Panoramic photo. But back to today, or yesterday, Thursday.

The class seems pretty quiet, maybe we're all just tired. Jack has read is blog and now we're on to our The Book Thief notes, which I'll have to copy later. Liesel is extremely paranoid about going to the Mayor's house because she knows someone saw her that night when she took a book from the bonfire.

To Liesel's surprise, the Mayor's wife, Frau Hermann, invites Liesel in to enjoy her library. This means that the Mayor's wife was the one who saw her that night of the fire. I bet that Liesel has her suspicions, but after recurring visits she is just able to read and enjoy the Mayor's library.

On page 145, we learn that Frau Hermann's son has passed away. Johann Hermann was a victim in the first World War. This devastates her, Ms. Nakada states. Death tells us that Frau Hermann learned to live through the grief, which is a form of sadness in which I don't see very often. Not many people are that strong.

Later, we meet Max, a Jew in hiding that has a friend that is feeding and keeping him safe. But as of then, we don't know much more.

Okay back to our classroom. I don't think I've ever realized how many little noises people make in a classroom period. Near Emma's area, I hear shuffling of papers, and the swift sound of pens against paper. You wouldn't think you could hear it, but when you listen closely it's pretty clear. Then there is the shifting of chairs, which is not so soothing, but bearable. Near Erika, there is the sound of tapping, tapping of feet, tapping of hands against tables. Woah okay, I've gone way too far into detail. Back to our notes.

Rudy and Liesel have gotten quite comfortable with the idea of thievery. Thievery involving food. They create friends with a boy named Arthur, and his "gang" of thugs, and together they steal apples from a farmer. Rudy becomes stuck on the fence in attempt of escaping the farmer which is after the group of children. When he finally is free, the angry farmer exclaims, "I'll have you arrested! I'll find you! I'll find out who you are!" And proudly, Rudy answers, "The name is Owens! Jesse Owens!" He has guts that's for sure.

Next is Part 4- Max takes a train to Molching, and ventures to Himmel Street with a key in his hand to 33. This is the address of the Hubermanns, and Max opens the door and asks Hans, in their house, if he still plays the accordion. Max is then fallen victim to a 3 day sleep, after vomiting up Rosa's famous pea soup.

We are then flash-backed to World War 1, where Max's father, Erik, volunteers Hans to writing letters to families that have lost loved ones. This is the reason that Hans is alive, for the group that was sent off to fight never returned. Not a single person.

Well the class is coming to an end, and Sparky, I believe is about to give a warning. I've just realized, he's been out of classes for a couple days, well it's good to have you back Sparky! "40 seconds" Anyway, have a great Valentines Day everyone!
