Reading Journal 6.1 (15-20 pages of your book)

       We are continuing The Outsiders movie from where we left off - right before Pony and Johnny get on the train to the church. The movie is a lot like the book, however, we get a bit of foreshadowing in the movie about the church fire when Pony says, "Watch your smoke, Johnny." They also throw in a little scene with a girl who asks for money; they didn't have that in the book. Johnny doesn't state plans to turn himself in.
       Pony isn't in the hospital bed, he's sitting in the hall when he sees his brothers. Two-Bit playfully (I hope) starts to choke Pony (if it's possible to do that playfully), but Darry tells him to lay off. The first we hear of Johhny's condition is when Pony agrees with Randy that Johnny might die. Johnny looks horrible. His back is broken, just like in the book, and like in the book, he is no longer ready to die. Although Johnny still doesn't want to see his mother, unlike in the book, we don't see her either. The
first thing that someone says to Dally is "What happened to your gown?" He wants to get even with the Socs for Johnny's sake. Pony has a premonition.
